How to get your AM & MP involved

WHAT IS AN ASSEMBLY MEMBER & MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT?

Here in Wales, we are represented by both the Welsh Government and the UK Government. The Welsh Government is in charge of devolved matters such as education, health and the environment in Wales. The decisions made in Wales on these devolved matters are made by Welsh Assembly Members, who are chosen by you every five years! All matters which are not devolved are made at UK Government level. These decisions are made by Members of Parliament. Both representative systems make decisions which influence our lives, so it is essential that the lobby involves both governments.

WHAT’S HAPPENING?

During the Local Climate Lobby, Stop Climate Chaos Cymru is encouraging Assembly Members & Members of Parliament to come back to their constituencies and engage with their constituents on the subject of climate change.

Local people will meet their representatives in their own communities, be it in a visit to a trailblazing energy efficient building, a nature walk, a coffee morning or just a classic lobby.

FIND OUT WHO YOUR AMs & MPs ARE

Knowing exactly who your Assembly Members and Member of Parliament are can be unclear. Here in Wales, we are represented by one MP, one constituency AM and four regional AMs.

If this all sounds a bit confusing, don’t worry, you are not alone! Stop Climate Chaos Cymru’s intern Rhys will be helping to coordinate the campaign. Rhys will be happy to help you get in contact with your representatives.

Everything you will need to contact your AM(s) & MP, as well as all the materials needed for a successful Local Climate Lobby can be supplied by Rhys!
